Youth & community services
Family Services promotes wellness and non-violence in our community by providing individuals and families crisis intervention services, counseling, advocacy and youth-focused services. The Youth and Community Services team provides comprehensive services to reduce juvenile delinquency. Staff assist young people and families who are faced with difficulties at school, home or in the community to improve their chances for success in life. Priority is placed on reducing the likelihood that at-risk youth will continue down a criminal path.
Seeking Safety Group Counseling
Single gender group counseling for youth who have experienced trauma and struggle with substance use/abuse.
Open Clinic
Available to youth for walk-in consultations on Tuesdays from 1 to 3 pm. Clients must be between 7-17 years of age to participate.
Teen court
What: Teen Court is a “peer court” for misdemeanor offenses
Who: Facilitated by teens of Davidson County/ volunteer attorneys
Case Management: FSDC Staff monitor compliance of sentences and report to referral source
Sentencing: Decided by Jury of peers
Family Empowerment
In-home social work services for families of at-risk youth that use a variety of interventions to redirect inappropriate youth behavior and strengthen parenting skills.
Professional Mentoring
Community-based professional mentoring for youth identified as level 2, level 3 or on post-release supervision by juvenile court.
Keeping Up
Academic enhancement, group skill building, and parent support group program for youth ages 11-16 who are suspended or at-risk of suspension.
